Flagship MXN$120b welfare to work program yields little success

The government has claimed that former President López Obrador’s (AMLO) flagship scholarship program, Youth Building the Future, has a 70% success rate. The MXN$120 billion program provides bursaries to out of work young adults aged 18 - 29 who are not in study with the aim of assisting them into work. But a new study suggest that the number of scholarship recipients going into full time work as a result of the program is actually 5%, falling to 1% in 2024. Read more at Animal Político.
