Report: Finance Minister favours compromise with courts

Mexico’s Finance Minister, Rogelio Ramírez de la O, reportedly is pushing the government to accept the Supreme Court’s proposed compromise on judicial elections. The compromise would see all federal and magistrate elections scrapped, with Supreme Court ministers alone being put to public vote. Ramírez de la O reportedly favours the move due to a belief that the MXN $13 billion price tag for judiciary-wide elections is unaffordable. Read more on La Política Online.
