Trudeau announces resignation

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced his intention to resign as Prime Minister today, and will do so once a new Prime Minister is chosen. He has also resigned, effective immediately, as leader of Canada’s Liberal Party. His exit comes after a rise in diplomatic tensions with Mexico as both countries position themselves ahead of the 2026 USMCA review. Read more at Semafor.
